Dahi Vada – Dahi Bhalla

Dahi vada (Dahi Bhalla, Thayir Vadai, Thayir Vada, Perugu Vada, Dahi Bara) is famous Indian Chaat, prepared by soaking dal vadas with dahi. There are many names of dahi vada but all tastes delicious.

Dahi vada is healthy fast food recipe. Fried soaked vada serves with dahi and chutines. In Gujarat and Maharashtra, sweeter dahi prefers. Dahi vada is tangy and spicy. This fresh and delicious recipe is most preferred by chaat lovers.

By adding coriander leaves or mint leaves, chili powder, crushed black pepper, chat masala, roasted cumin, sev, boondi, we can add more flavor. Here I am posting the simplest way of recipe.

Dahi Vada - Dahi Bhalla

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup choli (cow’s pea dal)
  2. 1 cup urad dal
  3. ½ cup mung dal
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Oil for frying
  6. 2 pinch red chili powder
  7. 1 liters curd
  8. 2 tbsp powder sugar
  9. ½ tbsp roasted cumin seeds
  10. Water according to requirement
  11. For Curd (Dahi)
  12. Add sugar according taste in to curd
  13. Beat it properly.

Instructions

Soak all dals for 4-5 hour.
Drain water from it.
Add water and salt in dal.
Grind it properly in a mixture jar like smooth paste.
Paste should be thick.
Heat oil in a pan at medium flame.
Add and mix 1 tbsp better in a oil with hand.
Fry vadas now.
Take water in a bowl.
Soak vada for1-2 minutes in water.
Slowly press vada with your palm and remove water from it.
Keep a side.
Add 3 pinch salt and powder sugar in curd
Mix it properly.
Now pour curd on vadas and sprinkle roasted cumin seeds and red chili powder.
Garnish with coriander leave.
