Dal Dhokli

Dal Dhokli is traditional delight Gujarati food. Dal dhokli is comfort, delicious, healthy recipe. Major Gujarati household made during holidays and for many family, it is sunday delight. Dal Dhokli is leftover dal recipes also. I also prefer to made dal dhokli during rainy season, it’s feel like bowl of goodness. Groundnuts add more delicious taste in Dal Dhokli.

Ingredients

    Ingredients for Dal
  1. 1 cup Toor dal
  2. 2 medium size tomatoes (chopped)
  3. 1.5 tbsp Lemon juice
  4. 1 tbsp Jaggary or sugar
  5. 6 cup Water
  6. 1 tbsp Coriander leaves (chopped)
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 2 tbsp Raw ground nut
  9. Water according to requirement
  10. Seasoning for Dal
  11. 1 tbsp Ghee
  12. ¼ tbsp Mustard seeds
  13. ¼ tbsp Cumin seeds
  14. 2 green Chili (fine chopped)
  15. 1 tsp Ginger (grated)
  16. ¼ tbsp Turmeric powder
  17. 1 Bay leave
  18. 2 Red dry chili
  19. 5-6 Cloves
  20. ¼ tbsp Garam masala
  21. Salt to taste
  22. Ingredients for Dhokli
  23. 1 cup Wheat flour
  24. ½ cup Gram flour
  25. Salt to taste
  26. ½ tbsp Carom seeds (ajwin )
  27. ¼ tsp Turmeric powder
  28. ½ tsp Red chili powder
  29. ½ tsp Garam masala
  30. ½ tbsp Oil
  31. Water according to requirement

Instructions

Wash toor dal .
Heat water 6 cup in a cooker and add toor dal and tomatoes.
Lid cover and cook for 5-6 whistle.
When it cool open and blend it by adding water according requirement.
Keep a side. Also cook ground nuts in a cooker for 5-6 whistle. Keep a side.
Sieve both flour in a bowl.
Mix all dhokli ingredients in it.
By adding ¼ tsp oil kneads the dough.
Now make medium ball from dough and make rotis.
Cut roti in to diamond shape. Keep a side.
Heat ghee in a pan at slow flame.
Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds in it.
When it is spluttering, add cloves, dry red chili powder, bay leave, ginger, green chili, turmeric powder.
Now mix dal, garam masala , sugar and lemon in it.
Now add cut dhokli in it.
Add ground nuts also. Boil till bubble appears.
Cook for 10-15 minutes till dhokli becomes soft.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve Hot.
