Mag ni Dal – Moong Dal

Mag ni Dal is easy to make dried Gujarati preparation. Gujarati families used it in daily meal. With Gujarati masalas, it gives unique and entertaining taste.

Ingredients

  1. 1 Cup moong dal (dried yellow split peas)
  2. Water according to requirement
  3. For Seasoning
  4. 2 tbsp oil
  5. Pinch of Asafetida
  6. 1 tbsp Red chili powder
  7. 1 tbsp Cumin coriander powder
  8. ¼ tbsp Turmeric powder
  9. 5 Garlic cloves – fine chopped
  10. 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

Wash moong dal and soak it 2-3 hour in warm water.
Heat oil in a pan and add asafetida, turmeric powder and then moong dal.
Stir it properly.
Add garlic paste and ginger chili paste and stir well.
Now add red chili powder, cumin coriander powder and salt in it.
Add enough water and stir it well.
Cover the lid and cook till dal become soft.
Serve with regular thali.

Notes

You can add tomato gravy also in it.

    Thank you very much for these Gujarati recipes.
    As in Gujarat we have trends that mainly lady only prepares food.
    so i was not knowing abc of cooking food.
    and at present i am on island Mauritius. these people are non veg. Our host try to prepare veg food but it is taste less.

    one day i tried to prepared Rotli.
    એ રોટલી રાજકોટ ના કુતરાને નાખી હોય તો એ ભાગી જાય એવી થઇ હતી.

    and i have to stay here 22 days.

    these recipes are helped a lot.
