Dahi (Curd or Yogurt) is important part of Indian food. Major Gujarati house make curd at home. Homemade yogurt is easy to make, simple and nutritious food. Curd often used to make many food items, buttermilk, kadhi, lassi, shrikhand, raita and more.
Yogurt not only taste delicious, it has many healthy benefits. Curds are rich of calcium, vitamin and protein. It also helps in digestion and keep body cool. Curd used as beauty product also.
How to Make Curd/Yogurt/Dahi at Home
Ingredients
- 1 liter Milk (hot)
- 1 tbsp Butter milk or Yogurt
Instructions
Heat milk in a bowl at slow flame for 5 minutes.
Cool it at room temperature.
Mix butter milk in it.
Cover the lid.
Set it for approx 5-6 hour.
If curd is ready, you can store curd in refrigerator.
You can use for 2-3 days.
Notes
For better fermentation put curd in warm place. Time duration in winter is approx 7-8 hour.
